Supriyanto

Supriyanto, also published as Supriyanto Suparno, is a geophysics lecturer with Dr. Eng. and M.Sc. degrees who has served as the Head of the Undergraduate Geophysics Program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), University of Indonesia (UI), since at least 2017, a role in which he has led the relatively new program—established in 2015—through its initial accreditation process in the same year. He earned his doctorate from the Exploration Geophysics Lab., Department of Earth Resources Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Kyushu University, under the supervision of Prof. Keisuke Ushijima, with his doctoral research focusing on geophysical exploration methods in geothermal fields, as evidenced by his collaborative publications with Prof. Ushijima on integrated inversion of MAM and MT data in the Sibayak geothermal field . As an academic and researcher, his expertise lies in geothermal energy, geophysical exploration (including gravity data analysis and tomography), and computational modeling for science and engineering, but he is equally recognized for developing applied disaster mitigation technologies, most notably the Earthquake Warning Alert System (EWAS), a patented device designed to issue earthquake early warnings in under five seconds, which has been installed in several disaster-prone regions across Indonesia, including Lombok, Banten, and Maluku. Beyond EWAS, he has also initiated the installation of Si-Cuhal (Local Rainfall Information System) in Wonokitri Village, East Java, to provide early landslide warnings and assist farmers in determining planting patterns based on rainfall data, and as recently as late 2025, he remains actively involved in collaborative efforts to install EWAS units while simultaneously empowering local communities in Central Maluku Regency to operate the devices and respond independently to early warnings.
